  catalytic amounts of several amines, N,N′-thiodiphthalimide has been allowed to react with one or two equiv. of arenesulfinic acids in dichloromethane, thus giving N-(arylsulfonylthio)phthalimides or bis(arenesulfonyl) sulfides respectively in good yields.
