Formation and characterization of a benzoquinolate triplatinum cluster containing a μ3-PPh2 bridging system and two Pt–Pt bonds

The reaction between [Pt(bzq)(mu-PPh2)](2) and cis-[Pt(C6F5)(2)(thf)(2)] (1:2 molar ratio) results in the formation of a bent benzoquinolate triplatinum cluster [Pt-3(bzq)(mu-PPh2)(2)(C(6)F5)(3)] 1, which has been characterized by X-ray crystallography. The structure shows the presence of mu(2)-PPh2 and [mu(3)-PPh(1,2-eta(2)-Ph)-kappa P-3] bridging ligands and two platinum-platinum bonds. (C) 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
