  aldehyde dimethylhydrazones were reacted with several aldehydes and ketones in the presence of acetic acid to afford 4-trifluoromethyl-4H-[1,5,2]dioxadines 3 in satisfactory yields. When the reaction was carried out in the presence of ammonium acetate, 4-trifluoromethyl-6H-[1,2,5]oxadiazines were obtained in good yields.
