A novel triphenylamine derivative is useful as a charge-transporting material having high carrier mobility and has the formula (1):
wherein R¹, R², R³, R⁴, and R⁵ is each hydrogen, lower alkyl, alkoxy, halogen, or substituted or unsubstituted aryl; or R¹ and R² and/or R³ and R⁴ may be taken together to form a ring; and n represents 0 or 1.
The derivative (I) may be used to form an electrophotographic photoreceptor by coating it onto a conductive support, optionally with a binder, to form a charge-transporting layer. A charge-generating material, e.g. a phthalocyanine or azo pigment, is coated as a separate layer or included in the same layer.
