Abstract The reactions between molydenum alkylxanthates and Lewi bases are described. Reactions with pyridine, methylpyridines, or dimethylsulfoxide give adducts Mo2(xanthate)4L2 of the usual axial type. Acetone, nitriles, tetrahydrofuran, and dimethysulfide form adducts in solution; these adducts decompose to starting materials at reduced pressure. Reaction of xanthate complexes with excess xanthate
