  Racemic compounds containing a quaternary stereocenter (having hydroxymethyl and alkyl group adjacent to keto functionality) based on chromanone, alpha-tetralone, and indalone scaffolds have been synthesized. An enzymatic irreversible transesterification approach has been applied to generate the pure enantiomers in a stereocontrolled fashion.
