  (EN) The chlorine content in chlorinated hydrocarbons in an environment which admits the presence of air and moisture can be reduced by bringing the chlorinated hydrocarbon into contact wih a dechlorination reagent which comprises (i) a complex of a substantially nontoxic metal having at least two oxidation states and (ii) a reducing agent which reductively returns the complex from its second oxidation step to its first oxidation stage. A representative embodiment involves bis-($g(h)5-cyclopentadienyl)titanium dichloride and sodium tetrahydridoborate.(FR) La teneur en chlore d'hydrocarbures chlorés dans un environnement dans lequel l'air et l'humidité sont présents peut être réduite en amenant l'hydrocarbure chloré en contact avec un réactif de déchloruration qui comprend: (i) un complexe d'un métal sensiblement non toxique ayant au moins deux états d'oxydation et (ii) un agent réducteur qui agit par réduction sur le complexe pour que celui-ci quitte son second état d'oxydation et revienne à son premier état d'oxydation.
