The three-nitrogen chain of an azimine has been cyclized photochemically to a triaziridine, the structure of which has been deduced by an interpretation of its spectral properties.
Visible light and Iridium(III) salts enable coupling of sulfonyl azides and azo reagents, providing a (photo)catalytic access to azimines. The reactions work both in batch and flow conditions. The latter conditions are better compatible with scale up.
