    The present invention provides polymers having any one of properties including affinity for metals or polar resins, impact resistance, mar resistance, heat resistance, rigidity, oil resistance, transparency, anti-fogging properties, electric insulating properties, high breakdown voltage, coating properties, low-temperature flexibility, moldability, environmental degradation, fluidity and dispersibility, and provides a process for preparation thereof. The olefin block copolymers (A-1) of the invention are represented by the formula (I) PO 1 —g 1 —B 1 (I) (wherein PO 1 is a segment composed of repeating units derived from an olefin having 2 to 20 carbon atoms, g 1 is an ester, ether, amide, imide, urethane, urea, silylether or carbonyl linkage, and B 1 is a segment containing an unsaturated hydrocarbon or a hetero atom). The olefin block copolymers are suitable for uses in adhesives; various molded articles such as construction and civil engineering materials, automobile interior and exterior materials, gasoline tanks, electric and electronic parts, medical care and sanitation materials, materials of miscellaneous goods, resin materials having environmental degradation properties, films and sheets; modifiers and dispersions.

    Disclosed is a solid titanium catalyst component for olefin polymerization comprising magnesium, titanium, halogen, and (C) a phthalic diester represented by the following structural formula (i) : wherein R is a branched hydrocarbon group of 7 carbon atoms, and two or R may be the same as or different from each other. Also disclosed are a process for preparing the solid titanium catalyst component, an olefin polymerization catalyst containing said solid titanium catalyst component and a process for olefin polymerization using the olefin polymerization catalyst. According to the present invention, the olefin polymer having high stereoregularity can be produced in a prominently high yield per catalyst unit.

    This invention provides an olefin polymer production method by which olefin polymers can be obtained at high polymerization activity under the conditions of reduced hydrogen concentration and provides silyl-terminated olefin polymers obtained by this production method. The olefin polymer production method is characterized in that an olefin is polymerized under the presence of a catalyst comprising a transition metal compound (A) of Groups 3 to 10 of the periodic table, at least one compound (B) selected from among organoaluminum oxycompounds (B-1), compounds (B-2) that react with the abovementioned compound (A) to form an ion pair, and organoaluminum compounds (B-3), and under the coexistence of an organosilicon compound (C) or dialkylzinc compound (D) and hydrogen (E). This invention also provides an olefin polymer production method by which olefin polymers can be obtained at high polymerization activity and provides silyl-terminated olefin polymers obtained by this production method. This olefin polymer production method is characterized in that an olefin is polymerized under the presence of a catalyst comprising a transition metal compound (A-i) of Groups 3 to 10 of the periodic table, at least one compound (B) selected from among organoaluminum oxycompounds (B-1), compounds (B-2) that react with the abovementioned compound (A-i) to form an ion pair, and organoaluminum compounds (B-3), under the coexistence of an organosilicon compound (C) or dialkylzinc compound (D), and under the non-presence of hydrogen (E).

    The present invention is intended to provide a branched polyolefin having various excellent properties, a process for preparing the branched polyolefin and a thermoplastic resin composition containing the branched polyolefin. This branched polyolefin comprises an olefin chain (A) and olefin chain(s) (B) which have recurring units obtained from at least one olefin as main constituent units. In the branched polyolefin, the olefin chain (B) is linked to a position other than both ends of the olefin chain (A), and at least one olefin chain (B) per one olefin chain (A) is present. The process for preparing a branched polyolefin comprises allowing a functional group-containing polyolefin (C) having one or more carboxyl groups and/or acid anhydride groups at positions other than both ends to react with a terminal modified polyolefin (D) having a group capable of reacting with a carboxyl group or an acid anhydride group at only the position of chain end.
