  As conformationally rigid analogues of 1‐ and 2‐naphthylacetic acids, some 2,3‐dihydro‐1H‐benz[e]indene‐1‐ and ‐3‐carboxylic acids were synthesized and tested for antiinflammatory activity by the carrageenin‐induced edema method in rats. Compound (±)8 was the most active in this series.
