  The title compound, [ZnCl3 (C4H12N5)], was prepared from aqueous solution and its structure determined. The coordination geometry around the Zn atom is a tetrahedron, with the central Zn atom bound to three Cl atoms and to one N atom of the biguanide ligand. The dihedral angle between the two guanidine groups is 67.86 (1)degrees.
