  By the reaction of isoquinoline with CCl(4) and methanol catalyzed by iron-containing compounds a synthesis was performed of 1-dichloromethylisoquinoline that was quantitatively converted into 1-formylisoquinoline by the treatment with dimethyl sulfoxide.
