    Synthesis and crystal structure of a novel trinuclear copper(II) complex from amine-phenol ligand

    The trinuclear copper(II) complex [Cu(3)L(2)(OAc)(2)] (where L = 3,7-diaza-5,5-dimethyl-2,8-bis(2'-hydroxyphenyl)nonane was prepared and characterized by UV-Vis, IR and ESR spectral studies, elemental analysis and single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The structure determination shows that the copper atoms are arranged in a linear fashion and the coordination geometry around each copper atom is square pyramidal. The Cu ... Cu distances are 2.969(1) and 2.942(1) Angstrom. The crystal is orthorhombic with space group Pbca, a = 18.478(2), b = 22.422(1), c = 27.008(10) Angstrom and Z = 8. The structure was refined to final R(f) = 0.060 for 4641 reflections with I> 1.8 sigma(I).
