Palladium(O)-catalyzed alkylation of various allylic carbonates by aromatic thiols allowed the easy preparation of various allylic aryl sulphides in quite good yields. The reaction was regioselective with substitution at the less hindered side of the π-allyl system whatever the temperature of the reaction, and was diastereoselective with net retention of configuration.
Phenoxycarbonylation of various allylic carbonates under various conditions in tetrahydrofuran in described. The nature and ratio of the products formed are dependent on the presence of water, carbon monoxide pressure and addition of various inorganic halides. The formation of a product arising from dimerization of the allylic carbonate is discussed.

The palladium(0)-catalyzed allylation reaction of dimethyl 2-fluoromalonate with allylic carbonates proceeds smoothly under neutral conditions to give the SN2 allylation product. However, using the nucleophile NaCF(CO2Et)2 under basic conditions increased the chemical yield. Moreover, the SN2′ allylation product was increased up to 75% yield.

A palladium(0)-water soluble catalyst prepared in situ from palladium acetate and the sulfonated triphenyl phosphine P(C6H4-m-SO3Na)(3) (or tppts) is an efficient catalyst for allylic substitution with various carbon and heteronucleophiles in an aqueous-organic medium, allowing a very easy separation of the product(s) and the recycling of the catalyst.
