Acyclic bis-allylic ethers undergo, syn or anti stereoselective [2,3]-Wittig rearrangement to give homoallylic alcohols depending on the substituents, and E-selective tandem [2,3]-Wittig-anionic oxy-Cope rearrangement to give δ,ε-unsaturated aldehydes. © 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
