The dimer of hexafluorothioacetone inserts into its SC bond the carbon atom of an isonitrile group to yield five-membered rings. PCl5 adds to (CF3)2CC(CN)2, prepared from HFA and CH2(CN)2, to form a six-membered phosphorus containing ring.
