A novel and efficient procedure for the synthesis of pyrano[4,3-b]chromenederivatives via three-component condensation reaction of benzyl alcohol, β-naphthol, and 4-hydroxycoumarin using a catalytical amount of cerium(IV) ammonium nitrate (CAN) and a reusable ionicliquid as a catalyst at room temperature is presented. An efficient synthesis of 7‐alkyl‐6H,7H‐naphtho‐[10,20:5,6]pyrano[3,2‐c]chromen‐6‐ones by three‐component condensation reaction of β‐naphthol, aromatic aldehydes, and 4‐hydroxycoumarin catalyzed by 1‐methyl‐3‐(2‐(sulfooxy)ethyl)‐1H‐imidazol‐3‐ium chloride is reported in good to excellent yields and short reaction times.

POTASSIUM 2-OXOIMIDAZOLIDINE-1,3-DIIDE AS A NOVEL CATALYST FOR GRIND SYNTHESIS OF PYRANO[4,3- b ]CHROMENONE
A novel, clean, mild and eco-friendly benign route to pyrano[4,3-b]chromenes through cyclocondensation reaction of beta-naphthol, aldehydes and 4-hydroxycoumarin, using POImD as a novel and reusable organometallic catalyst. is described. The present methodology offers several advantages such as simple work-up procedure. short reaction time, high yields of product with better purity and green aspect by avoiding toxic catalyst and hazardous solvent. All of synthesized compounds were characterized by IR, NMR and elemental analyses.
