Antitumour activity of sphingoid base adducts of phenethyl isothiocyanate
摘要:
N-(N'-Phenethylthiocarbamoyl) derivatives of sphingosine and sphinganine were prepared. They had antitumour activity: GC(50) values of 0.64 +/- 0.02 mu M (N = 18) and 1.6 +/- 0.01 mu M (N = 18), respectively, with human leukaemia 60 cells in vitro. This antitumour effect may contribute to the suppression of carcinogenesis associated with dietary phenethyl isothiocyanate and sphingolipid bases. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.

The invention relates to the enrichment of photosynthetic microorganisms in organic selenium using selenohydroxy acid compounds, in particular 2-hydroxy-4-methylselenobutanoic acid, in D or L form, or an enantiomer, salt or ester or amide derivative of these compounds, and also to the use of the microorganisms thus enriched in animal or human nutrition, in cosmetics or in pharmacy.

The invention relates to the enrichment of non-photosynthetic micro-organisms with organic selenium, and more particularly with selenomethionine, from a compound of the seleno-hydroxyacid type such as 2-hydroxy-4-methylseleno-butanoic acid in the (D, L) form or in the form of an enantiomer, salt, ester, or amide derivative of said compound, and to the use of micro-organisms, particularly bacteria thus enriched in the fields of animal or human nutrition, cosmetics, or pharmaceuticals.
