  A sweetness inhibited ingestible product and a process for inhibiting sweetness is disclosed. In this product and process an effective sweetness inhibiting amount of a compound selected from the group consisting of an alkali metal hexyl sulfate, an alkaline earth metal hexyl sulfate, an alkali metal heptyl sulfate, an alkaline earth metal heptyl sulfate and mixtures thereof is added to an ingestible composition to which a sweetener has been added.
