The present invention relates to a novel polyorthoester which is prepared by reacting:
(a) an orthoester such as methyl orthoformate, ethyl orthoformate, methyl orthoacetate and ethyl orthoacetate,
(b) at least one glycol compound selected from α-glycols and β-glycols, and
(c) a hydroxyl group-containing compound having at least two hydroxyl groups in a molecule other than the compound (b) described above
 and which has a high degree of freedom in molecular design and a low viscosity and is readily controlled in a molecular weight and to a curable composition comprising the above polyorthoester.
