A convenient synthesis of 1-aminophosphonates from 1-hydroxyphosphonates

A simple, efficient, and general method has been developed for the synthesis of I-aminophosphonates from 1-hydroxyphosphonates under solvent-free conditions using microwave irradiation. I-Aminophosphonates were obtained in high yield and mild conditions by reaction of diethyl 1-hydroxyalkylphosphonates with arnines in the presence of acidic alumina. (C) 2003 Elsevier Science Ltd. The first solvent and catalyst free three-component coupling of carbonyl compounds, amines and triethylphosphite is achieved producing α-aminophosphonates at ambient temperature in very high yields.
