  共轭 ω-二甲氨基醛的缩醛与 4-甲基-或 3-乙酰香豆素的各种衍生物反应生成含有香豆素片段的 ω-二甲氨基多烯酮。与起始香豆素不同，这些多烯酮实际上不发荧光。在 5 位或 7 位带有羟基的二烷基取代香豆素与 β-二甲氨基丙烯醛缩醛胺反应生成由 1 摩尔带双电荷的二甲氨基亚丙烯基二甲基铵阳离子和 2 摩尔酚盐离子（源自起始香豆素）组成的盐。通过吸收光谱和荧光光谱研究了溶液中盐的结构和性质。
