In this paper, a practical and efficient one-pot, non-transition metal, regioselective route has been designed for the direct synthesis of 2,4-diarylquinolines containing diverse functional groups of different electronic and steric nature from 2-(1-phenylvinyl)aniline and α-oxobenzeneacetic acid under air and mild conditions.
