The reaction of 2-hydroxy-2-polyfluoroalkylchroman-4-ones with hydrazine affords 5-hydroxy-3-(2-hydroxyaryl)-5-polyfluoroalkyl-Delta(2)-pyrazolines, whereas 2-polyfluoroalkylchromones under similar conditions produce 3(5)-(2-hydroxyaryl)-5(3)-polyfluoroalkylpyrazoles. 5 - (2-Hydroxyaryl)-1-methyl-3-polyfluoroalkylpyrazoles were synthesized in the reaction with methylhydrazine, and the reaction with phenylhydrazine afforded regioisomeric 3(5)-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-1-phenyl-5(3)-polyfluoroalkylpyrazoles.

Abstract2-Polyfluoroalkylchromones react with aliphatic 1,2-diamines to give 2,3-dihydro-1H-1,4-diazepines. A similar reaction with 1,3-diaminopropane yieldsN,N′-trimethylenebis(2-hydroxyacetophenomines) as a result of scission of the original chromones.

The reaction of 2-polyfluoroalkylchromones with ketimines, derived from aromatic methyl ketones and isopropylamine, gives 2,6-diaryl-4-polyfluoroalkylpyridines in moderate to low yields. Benzamidine and guanidine also react with 2-polyfluoroalkylchromones to afford the corresponding 2,6-disubstituted 4-polyfluoroalkylpyrimidines.
