  (EN) Compositions and methods for the treatment of mammalian cells to inhibit cell growth, especially for inhibiting the proliferative cell growth associated with malignant and non-malignant disease, are provided. More particularly, a deoxyhypusine synthase inhibitor, typically, a mono- or bisguanyl diamine or polyamine, is administered to the cells. Also provided by this invention are diagnostic methods and kits for screening the cells of a patient to determine the effect of the deoxyhypusine synthase inhibitor on proliferation of the cells.(FR) Compositions et procédés destinés au traitement de cellules de mammifères afin d'inhiber la croissance cellulaire, en particulier la croissance des cellules de prolifération associées à des affections malignes et non malignes. Plus particulièrement, un inhibiteur de désoxyhypusine-synthase, généralement une diamine ou une polyamine de mono guanyle ou bisguanyle, est administré aux cellules. L'invention se rapporte également à des kits et à des procédés diagnostiques permettant d'effectuer le criblage des cellules d'un patient afin de déterminer l'effet de l'inhibiteur de désoxyhypusine-synthase sur la prolifération cellulaire.
