Diaromatic Dianionic oxy‐Cope Rearrangement Route to the Synthesis of Bicyclic Ketones

Abstract Treatment of dinaphthyl diols of 1,10‐phenanthroline (1) and acenaphthene (2) with nonnucleophilic base gave bicyclic ketones (3) and (4), respectively. The formation of (3) and (4) involves aromatic dianionic oxy‐Cope rearrangement followed by transannular reaction.
