The synthesis and thromboxane receptor antagonist activity of acidic derivatives of the novel ring system 3,4-dihydro-1H-pyrano [3,4-b] benzofuran are described as tricyclic analogues of the 4(2-hydroxyphenyl) - 1,3-dioxane thromboxane receptor antagonists. These compounds were 50-100 times less potent than the corresponding 1,3-dioxanes.
