    The synthesis of a crystalline material, in particular, a high silica zeolite, comprising a chabazite-type framework molecular sieve is conducted in the presence of an organic directing agent having the formula: [R 1 R 2 R 3 N—R 4 ] + Q − wherein R 1 and R 2 are independently selected from hydrocarbyl groups and hydroxy-substituted hydrocarbyl groups having from 1 to 3 carbon atoms, provided that R 1 and R 2 may be joined to form a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic structure, R 3 is an alkyl group having 2 to 4 carbon atoms and R 4 is selected from a 4- to 8-membered cycloalkyl group, optionally, substituted by 1 to 3 alkyl groups each having from 1 to 3 carbon atoms; and a 4- to 8-membered heterocyclic group having from 1 to 3 heteroatoms, said heterocyclic group being, optionally, substituted by 1 to 3 alkyl groups each having from 1 to 3 carbon atoms and the or each heteroatom in said heterocyclic group being selected from the group consisting of O, N, and S, or R 3 and R 4 are hydrocarbyl groups having from 1 to 3 carbon atoms joined to form a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic structure; and Q − is a anion.

  • Production process of cross-linked polyaspartic acid resin

    A process is disclosed for producing with good productivity a cross-linked polyaspartic acid resin having biodegradability and high water absorbency. The process features inclusion of one of the following steps: (a) a polysuccinimide, which has been brought into a dispersed state by a dispersant, and a cross-linking agent are reacted to produce the cross-linked polyaspartic acid resin; (b) imide rings of a cross-linked polysuccinimide are subjected to a hydrolysis reaction while controlling a swelling degree of a resulting gel, whereby the cross-linked polyaspartic acid resin is produced; and (c) a gel of a cross-linked polysuccinimide, which has been obtained by reacting a cross-linking agent to a solution of a polysuccinimide in an organic solvent, is disintegrated to subject imide rings of the cross-linked polysuccinimide to a hydrolysis reaction, so that the cross-linked polyaspartic acid resin is produced. The process may also include one or both of the following steps as needed: (d) a gel of the cross-linked polyaspartic acid resin is washed with water and/or a water-miscible organic solvent; and (e) the polysuccinimide is produced using a basic amino acid as a cross-linking agent.

    Provided are a process for the production of a cross-linked superabsorbent polymer, which has excellent water absorbency and biodegradability, by using an economical maleic acid derivative as a raw material, and a process for the production of a biodegradable, cross-linked superabsorbent polymer by simper reaction steps. A process for the production of a superabsorbent resin, which contains a cross-linked superabsorbent polymer, is also provided. This process comprises the following steps: as step 1, conducting a polymerization reaction and a cross-linking reaction concurrently at 100 to 350°C in a reaction system to produce a cross-linked polymer, and as step 2, subjecting the cross-linked polymer, which has been produced in step 1, to hydrolysis to produce the cross-linked superabsorbent polymer. The reaction system contains (A) at least one monomer selected from the group consisting of (a-1) maleic anhydride and ammonia, (a-2) a dicarboxylic acid having 4 carbon atoms and ammonia, (a-3) a monoammonium salt and/or diammonium salt of a dicarboxylic acid having 4 carbon atoms, (a-4) a monoamide and/or diamide of a dicarboxylic acid having 4 carbon atoms, and (a-5) an imide having 4 carbon atoms, (B) a cross-linking agent, and (C) an acid.

    A continuous production process for a cross-linked polymer is disclosed. The process comprises the following steps: continuously mixing an uncross-linked polymer, which has been fed in a liquid form through a feed line (line A), and a cross-linking agent, which has been fed in a liquid form through another feed line (line B), together at a mixing junction (M) such that the uncross-linked polymer is allowed to continuously undergo a cross-linking reaction; and continuously discharging and collecting the resulting cross-linking reaction product as the cross-linked polymer through a discharge line (line C). Also disclosed is a production apparatus having such feed lines, mixing junction and discharge line. According to these production process and apparatus, cross-linked polymers each of which can achieve high water absorption can be continuously produced with high productivity.
