1-silaphenalanes to 1-silaphenalenes were unsuccessful. Verified is 1,1-dichloro-1-silaphenalene as the major volatile silicon-containing product from the pyrolysis of (1-naphthyl)-vinyldichlorosilane. 1,1-Dichlorosilaphenalane was found to be a significant minor product.
