This invention relates to a lubricating composition comprising a major amount of an oil of lubricating viscosity and a minor amount of
(A) a compound represented by the formula
wherein in Formula (A-I): X1, X2 and X3 are independently O or S, and X2 and X3 can be NR1 wherein R1 is hydrogen or hydrocarbyl; and G1, G2, G3 and G4 are independently R2, OR2 or R3OR2, wherein R2 is hydrogen or hydrocarbyl and R3 is hydrocarbylene or hydrocarbylidene. In one embodiment, the inventive composition further comprises (B) an acylated nitrogen-containing compound having a substituent of at least about 10 aliphatic carbon atoms. In one embodiment, the inventive composition further comprises (C) a phosphorus compound. In one embodiment, the inventive composition further comprises (D) a thiocarbamate. In one embodiment, the inventive composition further comprises (E) a organic sulfide. In one embodiment, the invention relates to a process comprising mixing the foregoing component (A) with an oil of lubricating viscosity, and, optionally, one or more of the foregoing components (B), (C), (D) and/or (E).
