Au(III)-catalyzed intermolecular amidations of benzylic C–H bonds with sulfonamides and carboxamides are described. The protocol with the Au–bipy complex/N-bromosuccinimide system provides practical applications for synthesis of various amides via C–H activations. The reaction proceeds with high efficiency to give the corresponding amines, which are extremely useful synthetic intermediates.
We have developed a general and efficient method for copper-catalyzedamidation of saturated C−H bonds under mild conditions, and the used substrates include benzylic reagents, the N,N-dimethylaniline derivatives, the free carboxamides, and sulfonamides. The protocol uses inexpensive and readily available CuBr/N-halosuccinimide (NBS or NCS) as the catalyst/oxidant, so it provides practical applications

A new procedure for protecting the amide, lactam, urea, and carbamate NH group with a triphenylmethyl (Tr) group is described. The utility of this method is illustrated with molecules that contain other functional groups. A mild deprotection using trifluoroacetic acid makes this a useful method for attaching amide groups on resin for combinatorial synthesis.
