wherein R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, R8, R9 and R10 are as defined in the specification. The novel 3-azabicyclo[3.2.2]nonane derivatives are particularly useful for treatment and prevention of malaria and trypanosomiasis.

We describe a new reduction process for the efficient preparation of various, especially 2-substituted, piperidin-4-ones which are not accessible by other reaction pathways until now. Abstract Piperidiniumhexathiocyanatochromate(III), (pipH)3[Cr(NCS)6], was synthesized using the molten salt pipHSCN and was found to contain nitrogen-bonded thiocyanate. The (pipH)3[Cr(NCS)6] decomposes in the range 250–370°C with the primary reaction being complete disruption of the compound to Cr(NCS)3(s) and pipHSCN(g). The reaction appears to be zero order with an activation energy of 82.4 ± 6

4‐Oxo‐2‐thioxo‐ und 2,4‐Dioxo‐tetrahydro‐1,3‐thiazine 1 und 2 wurden mit einigen Stickstoffbasen zu in Abhängigkeit von deren Basizität unterschiedlichen Folgeprodukten umgesetzt. Stets trat zuerst nucleophiler Angriff am C‐Atom 4 von 1 und 2 auf, danach gegebenenfalls auch am C‐Atom 2.
