Liquid-phase chlorination of a number of chloro(chlorovinyl)methylsilanes was investigated. A number of novelC-chlorosilanes were characterized by IR and1HNMRspectra. Some regularities of these reactions were determined; correlations between the structure of chloro(chlorovinyl)methylsilanes and their reactivities were identified.

It′s all about the timing: Precisecontrol of the residence time (tRx; see picture) of reactive intermediates in flowmicroreactors enables the reaction pathway of lithiated 1,2‐dichloroethene to be switched to produce either alkenes or alkynes. This method also allows versatile syntheses of asymmetric disubstituted dichloroalkenes and alkynes.

Analysis of spectral parameters of trans- and cis-silyl substituted 1,2-dihalogenoethenes including one-bond CC spinspin coupling constants across double bonds
allows ready assignment of the configuration. The one-bond spinspin coupling constants between the ethylenic carbons depend on the electronegativities of the substituents, trans1J(CC) in most cases being larger than1J(CC)cis.
