  Complex formation of (C60P)-C-.(O)(OPri)(2) or three isomers of (C70P)-C-.(O)(OPri)(2) with fluorinated alcohols CF3CH2OH (1), (CF3)(3)COH (2), and (CF3)(2)CHOH (3) results in an increase in the hyperfine splitting constants with the P-31 nucleus by approximately 3-4 G. Only monoadducts are formed when alcohols 1-3 are added to toluene saturated solutions of Hg[P(O)(OPri)(2)](2) and C-60 under photochemical conditions of multi-addition of phosphoryl radicals to C-60.

  A simple, efficient, and new method is developed for the synthesis of alpha-aminophosphonates via a three-component, catalyst-free decarboxylative coupling of amino acids with aldehydes and H-dialkyl phosphite. Treatment of amino acids with aldehydes and diethyl phosphite in the absence of catalyst, base, and ligand give alpha-aminophosphonates in moderate to good yields.   The radical adducts oft lie P-.(0)(OPri)(2) (R-.) radicals with C-60C[P(O)(OEt)(2)](2)}(2) fullerene derivatives were studed by ESR spectroscopy. The number of stable regioisomers of phosphorylfullerenyl radicals formed by addition of the phosphoryl radicals to the C-60[P(O)(OEt)(2)](2)}(2) isomers depends on the mutual position of the organophosphorus groups and decreases in the series trans-2 > trans-3 approximate to trans-4 > e. The rate constants for addition of the R-. radicals to the trans-3 regioisomer (k 1.7 . 108 L mol(-1) s(-1)) were determined.

  Photolysis of cis-(CF3)(2)CF-Hg-Pt(PPh3),-CH=CPh2 in a saturated toluene solution of C-60 has generated the platinum-centered free radical, which adds to C-60 to give a spin-adduct cis-Ph2C=CH-Pt(PPh3)(2)-C-60(.) fully characterized by EPR spectroscopy. Phosphorylfullerenyl radicals containing a eta(2)-coordinated ML2 moiety have been prepared, starting from phosphorylfullerenyl radical dimers. The metal complex (eta(2)-C-70)Pd[(+)DIOP] has been shown to undergo the partial rupture of M-C bonding as a consequence of the phosphoryl radical attack on the metal atom to give three regioisomers of metal-containing fullerenyl radicals.
