post-collisional fragmentation of the excited cluster. Four simple fragmentation mechanisms are proposed to describe the major features of the process. Contributions of these mechanisms to different fragmentation pathways are determined and their dependence on the initial internal energy of the cluster is studied. Fragmentation intensity maps are calculated and good agreement with experiment is obtained

The chemiluminescent reaction products of the halogenation system at concentrations in excess of 1012 cm−3 are considered. In a purely reaction driven environment evidence is obtained for the formation of the Na2 excited state and bound-free emission associated with the band system.

Controversy regarding the interpretation of photoionisation efficiency measurements obtained for alkali clusters has provided impetus for higher-resolution studies (3.3 nm). The new data presented here cover the full range of cluster sizes: Nax, x<23. We discuss methods of assigning ionisationpotentials and compare the resulting numbers with predictions from various model calculations.
