CrF5 is in the solid a symmetrically cis-fluorine bridged polymer with close to octahedral coordination at the chromium atom (a = 782.9(2), b = 753.4(2), c = 551.8(1) pm, space group Pbcm, Z = 4). In presence of SbF5 the adduct CrF5·SbF5 is formed. This is also a fluorine bridged polymer with alternating octahedral CrF6 and SbF6 units. (a = 555.2(2), b = 1026.5(3), c = 1198.6(4) pm, β = 99.475(7)°
