如将直接反应,则应防止被空气氧化。简单的制法是,在瓷罐中将粗铁粉与过量的加热至红热状态即可,不过,也会同时生成。若采用溴化铁的合成装置也较方便,此时可使用普通的封闭管进行制备。具体操作为:往一端封闭的反应管闭端装入过量铁丝,然后将管横放,将置于开口处附近,并用脱石棉隔开。随后将开口拉细与真空泵连接,俟排气后即行封闭。加热装有铁丝的部分至500℃,的部分至180℃,此时的蒸气压可达1.13×10^5Pa,反应会慢慢进行。当蒸气的颜色完全消失之后,将封管冷却。最后在充氮干燥箱中切开反应管,取出目标产物。
