Na2Cr2(C6H5)6·3Et2O was obtained by reacting Na2[Cr(C6H5)5·Et2O]·2Et2O in the mole ratio 4:1 with CrCl3·3THF in diethyl ether at −15°. The analogous reaction of Li3Cr(C6H5)6·2.5Et2O in the mole ratio 2:1 with CrCl3·3THF yielded either Li2Cr2(C6H5)6·3LiCl·2Et2O or Li2Cr2(C6H5)6·3Et2O. The latter substance was also directly obtained from 4 moles of phenyllithium and 1 mole of CrCl3·3THF at −15°.
