  Polyphenylene ether containing ether end groups of formula: wherein: R₁ is a halogen atom, an alkyl radical, phenyl, alkyloxy or haloalkyloxy; R₂ is hydrogen, a halogen atom, an alkyl radical, phenyl, alkyloxy or haloalkyloxy; X is oxygen or NR₃; and AR is phenylene or an aromatic radical constituted by 2 or 3 condensed rings.
