Axially chiral biaryls were synthesized by an isoquinoline or 2-pyridine-directed Rh(iii)-catalyzed dual C–H cleavage and coupling with internal alkynes.
(M)-Helicene-derived 2,2′-bipyridine N-monoxide catalyzed the allenylation of N-acylhydrazones with propargyltrichlorosilane with excellent regioselectivity and moderate-to-good enantioselectivity. This study represents the first catalytic asymmetricallenylation of acylhydrazones.

Asymmetric allenylation of aliphatic aldehydes catalyzed by a chiral formamide
(S,S)-N,N-Bis(alpha-methylbenzyl)formamide in combination with HMPA catalyzes the allenylation of aliphatic aldehydes with propargyltrichlorosilane with good enantioselectivity (up to 95% e.e.). (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
