New styryldyes containing azadithia-15-crown-5 fragments were synthesized. The complexation of these compounds with Ag+, Pb2+, Cu2+, Hg2+, and H+ cations was studied by 1H NMR spectroscopy, steady-state, and time-resolved spectroscopy. The stability constants of the complexes were calculated from the spectrophotometric titration data. The photophysical properties and E—Z photoisomerization of styryl

Six-membered spiro-ring expanded probes in rhodamine scaffolds exhibit Hg2+ ion specific dual mode signaling responses; specificity is achieved with tuning substituents on the appended pyrrole receptor.

An organopalladium chemical dosimeter of Hg2+ that methylates Hg2+, undergoing a colour change in 1 : 1 ethanolâwater with submicromolar sensitivity, gives rise to an aquaâpalladium complex that is methylated by MeHg+ in the presence of a dithiol compound, undergoing another colour change, thus making the system suitable for the naked-eye detection of Hg2+ and MeHg+, two environmentally important species of Hg2+.

develop fast and sensitive fluorescent methods for monitoring organic mercury in purely aqueous solutions as well as live cells. Especially, selective fluorescent detection of methylmercury over inorganic mercury ions has not been reported. We developed a fast and sensitive fluorescent detection method for Hg2+ ions as well as methylmercury using an amino acid–based fluorescent probe (1) and SDS micelles
metal-free reductive coupling of thiols with N-tosylhydrazones bearing a ferrocenyl group has been developed. This method features metal-free, good functional group tolerance, and readily available starting materials. Moreover, the compound 3k as a novel chemosensor has shown excellent recognition towards Hg2+ ion via optical and electrochemical signals. Quantification of the absorption titration analysis
