    A polyisophthalate such as poly(ethylene isophthalate) and copolymers thereof having high intrinsic viscosities as well as reduced ring dimer of ethylene isophthalate, and a process for making the same. A protonic acid catalyst is utilized along with intrinsic viscosity modifying agents during preparation of the polyisophthalate. The polymers produced have very high clarity, improved oxygen and carbon dioxide barrier resistance, high glass transition temperatures, as well as increased molecular weights. They are thus suitable for use as materials in packaging or forming containers, such as bottles.

    Polyisophthalates, for example, poly(ethyleneisophtha- late), or copolymers thereof, have low glass transition temperatures, even lower than poly(ethylene terephthalate). Unexpectedly, such polyisophthalates have very good barrier properties with regard to oxygen and carbon dioxide penetration. The polyisophthalates can be utilized as packaging materials, for example as films or containers such as bottles for beverages such as intoxicating beverages such as beer, and the like.

    A multi-layer polyester article, and particularly a beverage bottle having good oxygen and carbon dioxide permeability resistance. At least one layer of the article is made from polyisophthalate and copolymers thereof. The multi-layer articles find particular use as packaging materials, films, and molded containers such as for alcoholic beverages. Various colorants can be added to either one or more of the layers to impart a desired color to the article.

Doped MOFs according to embodiments of the present invention have significantly increased H2 uptake capacity, and some embodiments meet the 2010 DOE H2 storage target of 6 wt % at a temperature ranging from −30 to 80° C. and a pressure less than or equal to 100 bar.
