An iridium-catalyzed enantioselective hydroalkynylation of α,β-unsaturated amides was described. The selectivity of this reaction is distinct from that observed in many catalytic hydroalkynylations of α,β-unsaturated carbonyl compounds. It occurs selectively at the γ instead of the β position.
