    This invention provides hexagonal crystals of a diacetal represented by the formula (1) wherein R1 and R2 each represents an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms or a halogen atom, each of m and n is an integer of 0 to 2 and p is 0 or 1, a nucleating agent comprising the diacetal of the formula (1), wherein part or the whole of the diacetal is in the form of hexagonal crystals, a polyolefin resin composition and a molded product each comprising a polyolefin resin and the nucleating agent, and a method for molding the polyolefin resin composition. According to the invention, the occurrence of fish eyes and coloration in a molded product can be prevented, the optical, mechanical and thermal properties of the molded product are superior and the molding cycle is shortened.

    The present invention relates to a method for recrystallizing diacetal, such as 1,3:2,4-bis-O-(benzylidene)-D-sorbitol or a nuclearly substituted derivative thereof, in a polyolefin resin without giving a yellowish tint to the polyolefin resin; a polyolefin resin molded article containing a recrystallized diacetal which is obtainable by said recrystallization method; a method for producing polyolefin resin pellets containing the recrystallized diacetal by utilizing said recrystallization method, and polyolefin resin pellets obtainable by the above method; and a method for producing a polyolefin resin molded article by heating and melting said pellets at a temperature not lower than its sol-gel transition temperature during the heating cycle and rapidly cooling the melt; and a polyolefin resin molded article obtainable by said method.

    A propylene homopolymer or a copolymer of propylene and an α-olefin with at least 4 carbon atoms, which is produced through polymerization in the presence of a metallocene catalyst and which has an increased isotactic pentad fraction and a reduced molecular weight distribution; and also a propylene-based polymer composition as prepared by adding a nucleating agent to the homopolymer or the copolymer are superior to conventional polymers and polymer compositions, as they have well-balanced toughness and heat-sealability, and are not sticky, and, in addition, they have excellent anti-blocking properties. Their films especially those for wrapping and packaging edibles are tough and have excellent anti-blocking properties, and high film impact resistance. The polymer and the polymer composition have good moldability.

    The propylene polymer of the present invention satisfies (1) a 25°C hexane soluble content (H25) of 0-80 wt%; and (2) either no melting temperature (Tm) measurable by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), or a melting temperature (Tm) satisfying, if measurable by DSC, the following relationship: ΔH≧3 x (Tm - 120) wherein ΔH is a melting endotherm (J/g). The propylene homopolymer of the present invention satisfies (1) a meso pentad fraction (mmmm) of 30-60 mol%; (2) a racemic pentad fraction (rrrr) satisfying the following relationship: [rrrr/(1-mmmm)]≦0.1; (3) a fraction (W25) eluted at a temperatures up to 25°C by temperature-programmed chromatography, of from 20-100 wt%; and, (4) a pentad fraction (rmrm) of more than 2.5 mol%. The propylene copolymer of the present invention satisfies (1) a stereoregularity index (P) of 55-90 mol% as determined by 13C-NMR measurement; and (2) a fraction (W25) eluted at a temperatures up to 25°C by temperature-programmed chromatography, of from 20-100 wt%.
