Upon heating, alkyne(aminocarbene) complexes [(CO)5CrC(NR1R2)(CH2)3CCPh] undergo an intramolecular insertion reaction to give, first, complexes containing enaminoketene coordinated to Cr(CO)3, and then arene tricarbonyl chromium nitrogen ylides, which finally lead to rearranged organic products. Both types of complex were fully characterized by X-ray analysis.
