  A dissociative mechanism involving square-pyramidal intermediates has been suggested. The relation between the acid hydrolysis of both the cis and trans series of tetra-amine-dichlororuthenium(III) cations with that of corresponding cobalt(III), chromium(III), and rhodium(III) complexes is discussed.
