A practical procedure has been proposed for the synthesis of 6-aryl-3-(pyridin-2-yl)-1,2,4-triazines containing various functional groups in the -position of the pyridine ring by direct heterocyclization of isonitrosoacetophenone hydrazones with 6-substituted pyridine-2-carbaldehydes.
