  Disclosed is an alcohol compound which is useful as a raw material and an intermediate for paints, adhesives, medicines, cosmetics, food additives, surfactants and the like, further disclosed is a method for producing the above compound. The above alcohol compound is represented by the following Formula (1): wherein A represents an aromatic ring selected from the group consisting of benzene, naphthalene, anthracene, phenanthrene and pyrene; R 1 represents an alkyl group having 1 to 12 carbon atoms, a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group having 6 to 10 carbon atoms or a halogen atom; n represents an integer of 0 to 4; provided that when A is benzene, n represents an integer of 1 to 4; when n represents an integer of 2 to 4, plural R 1 may be the same or different from each other; and R 2 represents a hydrogen atom, methyl or ethyl.
