    The present invention provides a light-diffusive polycarbonate-based resin composition which includes (A) 100 parts by mass of an aromatic polycarbonate resin, (B) 0.01 to parts by mass of a light-diffusing agent, and (C) 0.1 to parts by mass of a styrene-(meth)acrylic ester copolymer, and a light-diffusing plate formed from the composition. The light-diffusive polycarbonate-based resin composition can be injection-molded to form a light-diffusing plate having satisfactory precision in thickness for use in comparatively large liquid crystal displays having a size larger than 20 inches.

    Polycarbonate granules are produced by adding a solution of polycarbonate in an organic solvent to a suspension composed of water, an anti-solvent for polycarbonate and polycarbonate powder with stirring while evaporating and removing the organic solvent for polycarbonate added to the suspension. The procedure may be effected in the presence of a stabilizing agent for polycarbonate. The resulting polycarbonate granules are easy in handling, and free from fine powder, have high bulk density, large particle size and uniform quality, and can be directly molded.

    A method for preparing an aromatic polycarbonate having less content of a low molecular weight oligomer which comprises the steps of : (A) conducting an interfacial polymerization reaction in a reaction system comprising at least one aromatic dihydroxy compound, a carbonate precursor, an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal base, water and an organic solvent in the absence of an endcapping agent, and (B) conducting an interfacial polymerization reaction with the addition of an endcapping agent after at least one of the following parameters reaches a predetermined value : (1) a weight-average molecular weight of a prepolymer obtained in step A, (2) a residual amount of the aromatic dihydroxy compound which is contained in the reaction mixture obtained in step A, (3) an amount ratio of a bishaloformate compound to a prepolymer wherein the bishaloformate compound is a bishaloformate derivative of a dihydroxy compound and is contained in the reaction mixture obtained in step A.
