    A laminated polyethylene 2,6-naphthalate film having a polyethylene 2,6-naphthalate film and a coating layer which is formed on at least one surface of the polyethylene 2,6-naphthalate film and comprises at least one water-soluble or dispersible resin selected from the group consisting of polyesters, polyurethanes and polyacrylic resins, and satisfying the following properties: (1) an F₅ value in a machine direction of at least 1.5 x 10⁸ Pa, (2) a Young's modulus in a machine direction of at least 5.9 x 10⁹ Pa, (3) a Young's modulus in a transverse direction of at least 5.9 x 10⁹ Pa, and (4) a surface roughness Ra of the coating layer of not larger than 0.020 µm, which laminated film is suitable as a base film of a magnetic recording medium.

    A film having a good adhesive property comprises a base film and a coated layer formed on at least one surface of the base film. The coated layer comprises a mixture whose main constituents are a polyester resin and a melamine compound, and not less than 60% by weight of constituents forming the coated layer is the polyester resin. Additionally or alternatively, the coated layer has carboxylic acid and primary groups such that, at a surface thereof, the concentration of the carboxylic acid groups is not less than 0.005 and the concentration of the primary amine groups is not less than 0.0015.

    A polyester film which is excellent in uniform light diffusibility, heat-resistant dimensional stability and luminance and suitable as a substrate of a light-diffusing plate of a liquid crystal display device. The film comprises a polyester containing polyethylene-2,6-naphthalene dicarboxylate as a main component and has a heat shrinkage in two directions perpendicular to each other in the surface of the film of not higher than 0.3% when heat-treated at 105°C for 30 minutes, a dimensional change rate in two directions perpendicular to each other in the surface of the film under a stress of 0.37 MPa within a temperature range of 30 to 150° C of not higher than 1.0%, a density of not lower than 1.350 g/cm3, a total light transmittance of not lower than 87%, a haze value of lower than 1.5% and a thickness of 50 to 150 µm.

    Provided is a multilayer film which can exhibit excellent gas barrier properties, does not undergo interlayer delamination and therefore can exhibit good adhesion properties under ordinary conditions as well as after being subjected to a severe retort treatment, and which can exhibit both gas barrier properties and print quality including designability when subjected to a print processing. This multilayer film is characterized by comprising a substrate film and a coating layer arranged on at least one surface of the substrate film, wherein the coating layer contains an oxazoline group and comprises an acrylic resin, the coating layer has a thickness (D) of 5-150 nm, and the ratio (P1/P2) of the peak intensity (P1) of a peak that has an absorption maximum in a region of 1655 ± 10 cm-1 to the peak intensity (P2) of a peak that has an absorption maximum in a range of 1580 ± 10 cm-1 in the total reflection infrared absorption spectrum of the coating layer and the thickness (D) of the coating layer fulfill the relationship represented by the following formula: 0.03 ≤ (P1/P2)/D ≤ 0.15.
